The BMW Certified CPO program is available on vehicles no older than five years with between 300 and 60,000 miles on the odometer. The program covers buyers for one year with unlimited mileage after the four-year/50,000-mile new-vehicle limited warranty has expired. This warranty can be renewed for a fee, but there is a maximum of five years of coverage. Each BMW must pass a road test and a 196-point inspection before earning CPO status. Additional benefits like towing and 24-hour roadside assistance may be available. This CPO coverage can be transferred to subsequent owners, but some restrictions may apply, so read the BMW warranty page carefully.
BMW has one of the less-attractive CPO programs among luxury car manufacturers, according to our research. You’ll get better warranties from Mercedes-Benz, Audi, and Jaguar.
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave the 2019 X2 the highest rating of Good in all six crash tests. It received the second-highest rating of Acceptable for how well its headlights illuminate the road ahead.

The 2019 BMW X1 is not only more well-rounded than the X2, it’s also generally less expensive. Both of these luxury subcompact SUVs deliver sporty rides and quick acceleration, but the X1 has roomier rear seats and a larger cargo capacity. These siblings have similar features, interior styling, and fuel economy, and they have the same base engine. However, the X2 M35i model boasts a stronger engine. Your choice comes down to how much you prioritize roominess versus horsepower. If you favor performance, go with the M35i, otherwise save some cash and get the roomier X1.
Like the X2, the 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLA has athletic handling and plenty of standard technology. The GLA has a higher predicted reliability rating than the X2 and a lower starting price. That said, the BMW is a slightly better vehicle because it has nicer interior materials, a larger cargo area, a stronger base powertrain, and a more comfortable ride.
Acceleration from X2 models with the standard turbocharged four-cylinder engine is a touch underwhelming, but this crossover SUV has no qualms accelerating and passing vehicles at high speeds. The standard eight-speed automatic transmission delivers smooth shifts. The performance-oriented M35i trim provides a more powerful engine and quicker acceleration from a stop. It also features sporty enhancements like M Sport-branded exhaust, steering, and suspension systems.
The X2 provides a smooth ride. It isn’t as sporty as some class rivals, but it holds its own thanks to well-weighted steering and lively handling.
The front-wheel-drive sDrive28i delivers average fuel economy for a luxury subcompact SUV. The all-wheel-drive xDrive28i and M35i have marginally lower gas mileage figures.

The 2019 X2 seats five people in two rows. The front row has spacious seating for adults, and standard power adjustments make it easy for the driver to find a comfortable seating position. Rear-seat space is not as generous, with just decent legroom and limited headroom due to a sloping roofline.
This Bimmer features a refined cabin with mostly high-end interior materials, including available wood and aluminum accents.

The 2019 X2 has two complete sets of LATCH car-seat connectors for the rear outboard seats and an upper tether for the rear middle seat. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave this LATCH system the second-highest rating of Acceptable for its ease of use. The upper tethers and lower anchors are easy to find, but the lower anchors are difficult to maneuver around.
The X2’s standard iDrive infotainment system is pretty straightforward after the initial learning curve. In addition to the standard touch screen, the system is operated by a standard rotary knob. The available system features a touchpad controller near the center console.
The X2 has an average amount of cargo space for a luxury subcompact SUV. There’s 21.6 cubic feet of space behind the rear seats and 50.1 cubic feet with the back row folded. A power liftgate is standard.
