2009 BMW 5-Series Wagon Overview

The 2009 BMW 5-Series Sports Wagon comes standard with all-wheel drive, a six-cylinder engine and a manual transmission. Test drivers said that overall, the 5-Series Sports Wagon is fun to drive. The steering is responsive and they said the 5-Series Wagon can handle corners with ease. The base engine with either the manual or an available automatic transmission gets lower-than-average fuel economy, at 16/23 mpg and 16/24 mpg, respectively.  

Reviewers liked the quality of the 2009 BMW 5-Series Sports Wagon’s interior, but said the back seat isn’t very spacious for three adults. Cargo space is 58.3 cubic feet with the second row down, and there’s 33.6 cubic feet of cargo space with the second row in use. Standard features include a panoramic sunroof, automatic windshield wipers, leatherette upholstery, BMW’s iDrive system, a 10-speaker stereo system with a CD player and a power liftgate. Optional features when it was new include a lane departure warning system, front and rear park assist, active cruise control and a navigation system.  Several reviewers said BMW’s iDrive interface is hard to use.
