2009 BMW 3-Series Wagon Overview

The BMW 3-Series Sports Wagon has a six-cylinder engine, manual transmission and rear-wheel drive. All-wheel drive and an automatic transmission are also available. Reviewers liked the six-cylinder engine’s power, and said that the manual transmission shifts smoothly. Although the automatic transmission is usually responsive, some reviewers though it is slow to downshift. Fuel economy with the manual and automatic transmissions is similar, at 17/27 mpg and 18/27 mpg city/highway, respectively. Test drivers liked the precise steering and strong brakes, and they said the 3-Series Sports Wagon handles great on longer road trips.

Reviewers said that the BMW 3-Series Sports Wagon’s interior is a bit plain, but also that it is comfortable for the driver. The seats are supportive in the front row, but the second row does not have a lot of head- and shoulder room. There is 16.2 cubic feet of cargo space behind the second row, which can expand to 60.9 cubic feet with the back seat folded. Standard features include heated side mirrors, a sunroof, automatic climate control, a 10-speaker stereo system and leatherette upholstery. Available features include leather upholstery, Bluetooth, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, retractable headlight washers, a navigation system and rear park assist. According to reviewers, the available iDrive system that comes with the navigation system is complex.
