BMW’s Roadster Gets a Makeover

The 2019 BMW Z4 is a new take on a familiar convertible theme for the German automaker. After being absent from the BMW lineup for a couple of years, the two-passenger Z4 returns with more emphasis on performance.

That’s partly because the previous model, which last appeared in our luxury sports car rankings circa 2016, lacked the agility of many key rivals. For a company that prides itself on building the “ultimate driving machine,” this was a problem that needed correcting.

Ironically, BMW sought a solution by teaming with Toyota, an automaker probably best-known for value and reliability. The two worked together to design and engineer a brand-new sports car. BMW’s version will arrive first, in the form of the 2019 Z4 Roadster. Toyota’s will be the next-generation Supra sports car.

Can BMW rekindle some of its magic through corporate cooperation? Keep reading to find out everything you need to know about the new Z4 Roadster.
