Lightning Quick, Easy On the Eyes – Tough On the Wallet

The BMW M8 and M8 Competition made their debut for the 2020 model year. The long-awaited M8 is a high-performance model based on the standard 2020 BMW 8 Series, which just returned to market in 2019 following a lengthy hiatus.

BMW offers the M8 in Gran Coupe, coupe, and convertible body styles. It cranks out much more power than the standard 8 Series, and features a high-tech all-wheel-drive system and larger wheels and tires. The M8 also comes with a rear-wheel-drive-only setting for drivers who like to drift.

The track-focused M8 Competition is virtually the same car, aside from a bit more horsepower and some design cues that let your friends know you spent the extra money. The Competition also has an M Sport exhaust, firmer suspension settings, and stiffer engine mounts than the standard M8. It wears forged aluminum 20-inch wheels instead of the standard alloys, too.

Despite the M8’s ridiculous acceleration and athletic handling – which is highly impressive for such a large and heavy cruiser – it has all the makings of a solid daily driver. The M8 boasts an agreeable ride, a handsome and comfortable cabin, and loads of standard features.
