2009 Ford Ranger

Don’t buy a 2009 Ford Ranger if you’re looking for luxury, seating for multiple adults, or a fresh design. Even in 2009, the Ranger was behind the times in these areas. But there was the 4.0-liter V6 engine that made 238 pound-feet of torque (and 207 horsepower). That’s the engine you want, as critics said it was stronger than its competition, paired nicely with the available five-speed manual transmission, and did its best work at low speeds, which is where you need power in a pickup.

The 2009 Ranger was not particularly safe, interesting to look at, or useful for transporting groups of people or keeping them safe along the way, but if it’s a sturdy compact pickup you’re looking for – and nothing else – the 2009 Ford Ranger is a good buy.
