U.S. News’ Best Truck Brands of 2019

Nissan Titan
2 of 15

7) Nissan

Average Overall Score: 7.6/10

Some company has to occupy the bottom rung. The full-size Titan was greeted by the marketplace in 2016 with a barely stifled yawn, while the midsize Frontier – although continuing to sell well – hasn’t enjoyed a significant update since 2004.

The full-size Titan is actually two trucks in one. Opt for the gas-powered Titan and you’ll enjoy the capability that typically accompanies trucks in the half-ton category (a 5.9-liter gasoline V8 is standard).

Drive over, however, to the Titan XD, and Nissan taps Indiana-based engine-maker Cummins to provide an optional 5.0-liter turbodiesel V8. With that Cummins diesel, you can almost match the capability of a heavy-duty truck.

The Titan’s excellent safety score of 9.3 is compromised by a so-so reliability rating of 2.5 out of five.
