8) 2018 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid

$39,995 | U.S. News Score: 8.9/10 | EV-Only Range: 33 mi | 84 mpg-e

The 2018 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid has a lot going for it. It’s the only plug-in hybrid minivan on the market (there aren’t any conventional hybrid minivans either). With a 33-mile electric range, the Pacifica can handle most weekday errands on electricity alone. Its potent 260-horsepower gasoline-electric hybrid powertrain makes weekend adventures easy.

It’s not an inexpensive minivan, but many buyers will qualify for a $7,500 federal electric car tax credit plus state and local incentives. The Pacific Hybrid achieves an EPA-estimated 84 mpg-e on electricity alone and 32 mpg (combined) when operating as a hybrid. The transition from one mode to another happens seamlessly, with no driver intervention necessary.

The Pacific Hybrid does lose one favorite feature from the gas-only Pacifica. In the hybrid, the second row of seats don't fold into the floor, like the regular Pacifica's Stow ‘n Go seats.
