Save Money at The Pumps With These Luxury SUVs

Modern luxury SUVs are do-it-all machines. They have spacious cabins that are loaded with tons of convenience features, punchy powertrains, and handsome designs. The majority of them are available with all-wheel drive, too. Unfortunately, luxury SUVs aren’t really known for getting great fuel economy, as the lush materials, dramatic styling, and powerful engines don’t exactly make them efficient.

That doesn’t mean you can’t get into a luxurious SUV that can sip fuel, though. In this slideshow, we outline the 20 most fuel-efficient luxury SUVs on the market. Fuel economy figures for the vehicles have been taken directly from the EPA’s website The EPA’s data takes estimated fuel economy and what type of fuel a vehicle uses. Then, they come up with a figure based on how much an average driver would spend annually driving 15,000 miles a year, with 45% coming from highway miles and 55% from city miles. All of these SUVs have an estimated annual fuel cost at or below $2,050.

For this list, we’ve omitted hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and electric vehicles, as many new options have come out recently that are far more efficient than purely gasoline-powered SUVs. Electrified options, though, tend to be much more expensive than their gasoline-only counterparts. In short, finding a luxury SUV that fits into your budget and gets good fuel economy is far more important than just looking at a vehicle’s fuel efficiency rating.
