These Luxury Vehicles Stole the Show at the New York Auto Show

Cities full of investment bankers prove to be lucrative markets for luxury cars, even if they’re known more for their congestion, subway systems, and residents who don’t know cars.

Luxury cars are in full force this week at the New York International Auto Show, with new entries from Acura, Buick, Infiniti, Land Rover, Lexus, Lincoln, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, and Volvo.

Although automakers and dealers are full of talk about the resurgence of crossover SUVs in the market, the hottest models at the show were modernized versions of traditional full-sized, eight-passenger SUVs with full frames, monster horsepower, and towing capacity to match.

Some were concepts, not yet ready for production. But they still signaled their product planners’ intent in this gold-rush city in an age when gasoline is again cheaper than bottled water.
