Which Jeep Is Right For You?

Jeep started its life as a general purpose (or GP) vehicle built for the U.S. military during World War II. Detroit-based automaker Willys-Overland Motors began selling its Jeeps to civilians in 1945.

The brand, which quickly became synonymous with off-road driving, changed ownership several times as it continued to build variants of its sturdy four-wheel drive vehicles. In August 1978, one year after the introduction of the Wrangler, Jeep was sold to Chrysler Corp. The brand now includes seven different models, from the base Jeep Patriot to the top-of-the-line Jeep Grand Cherokee.
