Redesigned in 2016, the Chevrolet Volt plug-in hybrid got an extended, 53-mile battery range and increased fuel efficiency.

The five-passenger compact car generates 149 horsepower with a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine, a lithium-ion battery, and a pair of electric motors. It achieves 54 mpg in combined city/highway driving after the battery is depleted and it's running on gasoline power.

Starting at $33,220, the LT base trim includes Bluetooth, an 8-inch touch screen, two USB ports, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capabilities. A Teen Driver management system, which allows owners to control vehicle speed and audio volume remotely, is standard for 2017.
