Automatic Emergency Braking Could Save Your Life

A 2016 agreement between the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and 20 major automakers will make automatic emergency braking a standard feature in all new vehicles by 2022. The feature will stop the car, or at least slow it down, if you don’t react in time.

It’s not an easy task for buyers to figure out which vehicles have automatic emergency braking, or which trims and packages they need to choose to get it. Some packages require the addition of other packages, and while some packages add low-speed automatic braking, others are required get the feature to work at highway speeds.
