2019 Toyota RAV4 | Best New SUV for Teens $35k to $40k

The fully redesigned Toyota RAV4 currently ranks highly in the compact SUV class, partly due to its extensive list of safety features; the RAV4 now comes standard with front automatic braking, forward collision warning, lane keep assist, and lane departure warning.

Blind spot monitoring, rear automatic braking, rear cross-traffic alert, and Toyota’s Birds Eye View Camera are also available, though getting all of them raises the RAV4’s price by more than $10,000.

Rounding out this substantial list of features is the Remote Connect app, part of Toyota’s available Entune 3.0 system. The Remote Connect app includes a Guest Driver monitor, which sets alerts for speed limits, curfews, maximum miles driven, and more.

If an accident happens to occur, passengers should be well protected. The RAV4 earned the best rating of Good in all six crash tests conducted by the IIHS. In addition, with a four out of five rating from J.D. Power, the RAV4 boasts very good predicted reliability, so maintenance and repair costs should be kept to a minimum.

The RAV4 should be at the top of your list if you want to buy a safe and dependable SUV for your teenage driver.
