It’s about time. You can finally take your favorite condiment, Sriracha, wherever you go.
Lexus has unveiled a custom version of the 2017 Lexus IS, and it comes complete with a trunk full of the red hot sauce. This is after Lexus and Huy Fong Foods, the maker of Sriracha, collaborated on a display at the Los Angeles Auto Show’s start on Friday.
The 2017 Lexus Sriracha IS – the car’s actual name – comes in Sriracha red and, unsurprisingly, the hot sauce is used in the paint of the car.
“The new Lexus IS is so hot, we decided to make it Sriracha hot, with all the custom details every Sriracha fan will appreciate,” said Brian Smith, Lexus’ Vice President of Marketing, in a press release.
Sriracha is all over this car. There’s enough Sriracha to last you a lifetime, even if you ordered Chinese food once a week. The trunk is full of it – 43 bottles of it to be exact – for those situations when you desperately need to spice up your meal. The key fob dispenses Sriracha, and there are Sriracha-green accents on the front grille, brake calipers, and upholstery of the car. Even the temperature settings go from cool to Sriracha.
Typically, the IS comes with a sport mode, but Lexus decided to spice things up a bit with a Sriracha mode. They injected Sriracha into the steering wheel to help the IS with its hot handling.
“I feel so humbled to see my Lexus and Sriracha friends’ love for my hot sauce,” said David Tran, CEO and founder of Huy Fong Foods in a release. “The Lexus Sriracha IS is really the perfect mix for a ‘hot’ and ‘spicy car’ – just the way I like it.”
Basically, if you like, no, love Sriracha, this is the car for you.
