Ford fully redesigned the 2015 F-150, and pricing starts at $26,615 (including $1,195 for destination). This price is for a three-seat regular cab, rear-wheel drive F-150 in the base XL trim. The 2015 Ford F-150 costs $395 more than a comparable 2014 model. Springing for four-wheel drive adds $4,645 to the price of a base model. SuperCab models and SuperCrew cab models, which both seat six, add $4,060 and $7,625, respectively, to the base price. There are four other F-150 trim levels besides the base XL trim. The off-road-oriented SVT Raptor model does not continue into the 2015 model year.
The automaker says in a press kit that one hallmark of the redesign is the use of aluminum alloy, rather than steel, for the body panels. According to Ford, the 2015 F-150 is as much as 700 pounds lighter than a comparable 2014 model. As a result of that weight loss, Ford says the F-150 can "tow more, haul more, accelerate quicker and stop shorter," as well as use less fuel. When properly equipped, the 2015 F-150 can tow up to 12,200 pounds and haul 3,300 pounds.
The 2015 F-150's base engine is a 3.5-liter V6 that produces 283 horsepower and 255 pound-feet of torque. Engine options include a turbocharged 2.7-liter V6 with 325 horsepower and 375 pound-feet of torque, a 5.0-liter V8 with 385 horsepower and 387 pound-feet of torque and a turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 that produces 365 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque. For 2015, Ford is no longer offering the 6.2-liter V8 in the F-150. With any engine, the F-150 comes with a six-speed automatic transmission.
Available features in the 2015 F-150 include Ford's SYNC voice command system, Bluetooth, a USB port, a rearview camera, the MyFord Touch infotainment system, navigation, adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree camera system and front seats with heating, cooling and massaging functions.
The 2015 Ford F-150 currently is our top-ranked full-size truck because reviewers are impressed with its spacious cabin, poised handling and the ample power provided by either of its available turbocharged V6 engines.
Ford says the 2015 F-150 will be on sale later this year.
