Subaru announced yesterday that the 2015 BRZ will start at $25,695, which is a price increase of $100 over the 2014 model. Subaru says its affordable sports car has a retuned the suspension that produces "a more enjoyable driving experience." Subaru also says that the 2015 BRZ features larger exhaust tips and a dash panel with a carbon fiber-like appearance.
The automaker also announced that it is producing a limited production model BRZ called Series.Blue for 2015, which will feature underbody panels, as well as black-painted exterior body panels that Subaru says all help enhance the BRZ's aerodynamics. The Series.Blue also gets black wheels and red brake calipers.
On the inside, Series.Blue features blue accents on the seats and steering wheel, as well as blue stitching on the steering wheel, shifter boot and parking brake handle. The BRZ Series.Blue is available with a manual transmission only, and will be available in either WR Blue Pearl or Crystal White Pearl paint. The starting price for the 2015 BRZ Series.Blue is $29,490 and only 1,000 models will be produced (500 in each paint color).
Many of the Series.Blue's aerodynamic add-ons are branded STI, which is Subaru's performance division. Jalopnik says that some BRZ fans may have hoped that a BRZ with STI badges would also get a boost in horsepower.
Car and Driver mentions that the release of the BRZ Series.Blue coincides with the introduction of a limited production version of the BRZ's corporate sibling, the Scion FR-S. The publication notes that, unlike Series.Blue, the limited production FR-S Release Series 1.0 features suspension enhancements that aren't included on the regular FR-S.
Subaru says that the 2015 Subaru BRZ will go on sale this summer.
