Scion has announced that the eighth limited-production version of the tC coupe will hit dealers later this month. The 2013 tC Release Series 8.0 is available in just one color, Absolutely Red, and has various cosmetic and performance enhancements, Scion says in a press release.
On the outside, the tC RS 8.0 has gloss black-colored side mirrors, A-pillars and 18-inch wheels. Additionally, the car has a unique five-piece body kit that includes a rear spoiler. Interior upgrades include black textured-cloth sport seats with red stitching, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with red stitching and a badge listing the car’s production number.
Performance-wise, the tC RS 8.0 has Toyota Racing Development lowering springs and a center-exit exhaust system. Otherwise, the latest tC Release Series has the same 180-horsepower, 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that powers other tCs. Power is routed through the front wheels via a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission with steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters.
Scion produces limited editions of all of its vehicles every year, Kicking Tires reports. The 2012 Scion tC Release Series 7.0 is still on sale with a base price of $20,905. Other Release Series Scion models available include the 2012 xB RS 9.0 Hot Lava and 2012 xD RS 4.0 Blizzard Pearl.
The 2013 tC Release Series 8.0 will start at $21,815. Car and Driver says, “That’s a not-insignificant $1992 more than a regular 2013 Scion tC (minus unique red paint) outfitted with the $699 TRD performance exhaust and $399 TRD lowering springs.” Scion will only produce 2,000 tC Release Series 8.0 models.
