Buick is set to reveal its new compact SUV, the 2013 Buick Encore, at the Detroit Auto Show in January. However, consumers who want to get a sneak peek at Buick’s new SUV should head to the automaker’s Facebook page. Each week, Buick will reveal a little more of the 2013 Encore until a full image of the new SUV is displayed Jan. 10.
The 2013 Encore is smaller than the Buick Enclave, and should appeal to shoppers who don’t need a crossover with three rows of seating. Edmunds says, “The 2013 Encore is a five-passenger compact crossover that is being widely referred to as the ‘baby Enclave,’ a reference to the full-size Buick crossover that is slated to get a significant face-lift for model year 2013.”
Buick hasn’t released any details on the Encore, but the new SUV might share some of its DNA with Chevrolet’s affordable compact SUV. Autoblog writes, “The Encore looks to be about the same size as the Chevrolet Equinox, but we don't see a single panel shared with the BowTie-badged CUV.”
