Ram is adding three new trim levels to its truck lineup. The 2012 Ram 2500 Power Wagon gets two new trim levels, for a total of three, and the 2012 Ram 1500 Outdoorsman gets a Mossy Oak Edition aimed at hunters.
The 2012 Ram 2500 Power Wagon adds ST and Laramie trims in addition to its existing SLT trim.
The new ST is less expensive and contains fewer interior features than the Power Wagon SLT, though it retains the mechanics that make it Ram’s burliest off-roader. “ST guise is meant more for companies and government agencies that may require a pickup capable of heading off into the uncharted wilderness,” Autoblog reports. The 2012 Ram Power Wagon ST starts at $42,620, compared with the Power Wagon SLT, which has a starting price of $46,560.
The $51,995 Ram Power Wagon Laramie gets standard leather seats, a premium sound system and interior wood trim. The ST and Laramie trims are expected to hit dealerships in 2012.
Ram will feature the Mossy Oak Edition Ram 1500 on television shows produced by Mossy Oak, a company that develops and markets camouflage designs for outdoorsmen and hunters. Ram and Mossy Oak announced their partnership last summer.
“According to Ram officials, 42 percent of Ram owners camp, 44 percent fish and 30 percent hunt,” The Detroit News reports.
Camouflage trim adorns the Mossy Oak’s tailgate and bed rail caps and Mossy Oak logos are located on the sides of the truck bed, Car and Driver reports. “Inside, the headrests feature embroidered Mossy Oak logos and there’s camo on the instrument panel and door panels.”
The 2012 Mossy Oak Edition Ram 1500 is a four-wheel drive Crew Cab model and starts at $39,910. It gets a 310-horsepower 4.7-liter V8 engine and goes on sale in December. A 5.7-liter Hemi V8 engine is optional. A similarly-outfitted 2012 Ram 1500 SLT without the Mossy Edition package starts about $5,600 less, at $34,360.
