Honda released a concept photo and vague preliminary information for its 2012 CR-V Concept Monday. The affordable compact SUV receives a redesigned exterior, and is scheduled to hit U.S. dealerships by the end of the year.
"The 2012 CR-V Concept introduces the exterior styling for the more sophisticated and dynamic design of the upcoming production model," John Mendel, executive vice president of sales for American Honda, says in a statement.
While the photo Honda released features a concept CR-V, USA Today’s Drive On says shoppers should expect the final version of the 2012 CR-V to be very similar because Honda “almost always keeps its production cars looking almost exactly like the concepts.”
Honda says the 2012 CR-V will have a more fuel-efficient engine, will weigh less and will have a lower cargo floor, but hasn’t provided any concrete data on the latest CR-V. A redesigned interior will also be new for 2012.
“No images of an interior have been released, but speculation suggests the new CR-V may potentially offer a third-row seat as an option,” Truck Trend reports.
