2013 Audi Q7 Overview

The Audi Q7 offered three engines when it was new, including a standard supercharged V6, a more powerful V6 in the S-Line model and a V6 diesel engine. Test drivers reported that the base engine has sufficient power for most drivers, but the more powerful V6 helps the Q7 feel peppier. Of the three available engines, though, reviewers liked the diesel best, as it delivers strong acceleration, and with it, the 2013 Q7 gets an EPA-estimated 19/28 mpg city/highway, which is good for the class. With the base engine, the Q7 returns 16/22 mpg, which is normal for the class. An automatic transmission is standard, and test drivers said it operates smoothly. While critics reported that the Audi Q7 is a comfortable cruiser, they also complained that it feels heavy and is tough to maneuver in tight spaces.

Reviewers liked the premium materials in the seven-seat 2013 Audi Q7’s interior, but noted that only the first two rows of seats are comfortable, as the third row doesn’t offer sufficient space for adults, which is common among three-row SUVs. Cargo space is also small for the class, which surprised reviewers given the Q7’s large size. Several test drivers noted that the Q7’s tech controls require some getting used to. Standard features in the 2013 Q7 include Bluetooth, leather upholstery, rear parking sensors, Audi’s MMI infotainment controller and an iPod jack. Navigation, a rear-seat DVD entertainment system, adaptive cruise control, a rearview camera, blind spot monitoring and an integrated Wi-Fi connection are available.

Other SUVs to Consider

The 2013 Acura MDX is another seven-seat SUV, and reviewers liked its strong V6 engine and poised handling. The MDX also has more overall cargo space.

If you can live without the Q7’s third row but not its available diesel engine, consider the 2013 Porsche Cayenne. Reviewers loved the Cayenne’s nimble handling.
