2010 Audi Q7 Review

The 2010 Audi Q7 delivers distinctive elegance, spacious cargo room and lots of safety features, but it returns below-average fuel economy for the class.

Pros & Cons

  • Fuel-efficient available diesel engine
  • Especially nice interior
  • Great safety scores
  • Gas-guzzling base V6
  • Cramped third row of seats

2010 Audi Q7 Overview

Test drivers said the 2010 Audi Q7 is a fairly good SUV. It’s attractive inside and out, its available diesel engine is fuel-efficient and it has great safety scores. Reviewers especially loved the Q7’s interior tech and well-crafted cabin. However, shoppers will likely find that other SUVs match their needs better. Testers noted that the Q7’s base gas V6 engine gets disappointing fuel economy and also feels underpowered. The Q7’s third row of seats is more cramped than many rivals’, and its handling leaves a lot to be desired.

The Audi Q7 is available in three trims (Premium, Premium Plus and Prestige), although the TDI diesel engine is only available in the Prestige trim. Base models are very well-equipped, with features like alloy wheels, wood and leather trim, a cooled storage compartment, rear parking sensors and an 11-speaker audio system. Prestige models offer features like leather seats, heated rear seats, a power tailgate, navigation and a 14-speaker Bose sound system. Unlike some of Audi’s luxury competitors, reviewers noted that the Q7’s infotainment controls were especially intuitive and easy to use.

Other Cars to Consider

The seven-seat 2010 Acura MDX is a great alternative to the Audi Q7 for its sporty performance and long list of standard features. Test drivers said the MDX is one of the sportiest SUVs on the market, with excellent handling. The MDX doesn’t come in a diesel trim like the Q7 does, and its fuel economy isn’t great, but overall, reviewers said it’s one of the best three-row SUVs on the market.

Another good alternative to the Q7 is the 2010 Lexus GX. The GX is very capable off-road, and reviewers loved its high-quality, luxurious cabin. However, it’s not as fun to drive on-road since it’s based on the off-road-friendly 2010 Toyota 4Runner.
