The cabin of the 2014 Audi Allroad receives great reviews for the quality of its materials, modern design and top-notch build quality, which are all characteristics that reviewers say they have come to expect from Audi. However, the Allroad falls short with lackluster cargo space and awkward infotainment controls on the base model.

Seating

The 2014 Audi Allroad seats five and comes standard with leather upholstery and power-adjustable front seats. Heated front seats are optional. While reviewers agree that the Allroad has comfortable seats, one auto writer notes that the back seat is too narrow to seat three across comfortably.

Interior Features

The 2014 Audi Allroad comes standard with a panoramic sunroof, automatic climate control, Bluetooth, Audi’s Multi-Media Infotainment system (MMI) and a 10-speaker audio system with iPod integration and satellite radio. Optional features include keyless entry with push-button start, blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, a rearview camera, navigation and a 14-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system. Audi Connect is also available, which turns the Allroad into a wireless hot spot that supports up to eight Wi-Fi-enabled devices. The navigation system can also use the Internet connection to display Google Earth views instead of the standard maps.

Reviewers write that the controls for the base version of Audi’s MMI system and the climate control system are awkwardly placed. One critic says that the premium version of the MMI system has a useful interface, but also that it’s not as easy to use as Mercedes’ COMAND or BMW’s iDrive. Another thinks the Allroad should have more standard equipment given its price. However, the Allroad’s optional navigation system does draw praise for its integrated Google features, which include Google Earth and location-based Google search.

Cargo

The 2014 Audi Allroad has 27.6 cubic feet of cargo space, or 50.5 cubic feet if you fold the back seats down. Most other wagons, including the Subaru Outback and the Volvo XC70, offer more cargo space. Reviewers wish there was more storage space in places like the glovebox and the center console. One reviewer also thinks the shallow angle of the rear window could make it hard to carry large items. Another says the rear cargo area is easy to access because of the Allroad’s ride height.
