2015 Audi A6 Overview

Is the 2015 Audi A6 a Good Used Car?

The 2015 Audi A6 is a solid luxury midsize car for folks who value handling agility over ride comfort. The A6 feels poised around sharp corners and boasts a range of powerful engines. Even the standard powertrain provides plenty of muscle. However, one downside in the performance department is that the available sport suspension can make the ride feel harsh on some surfaces.

Inside, you’ll find high-end materials, comfortable seating, and lots of tech features. The Audi Connect infotainment system has crisp graphics and intuitive menus, but its controller knob can be a bit of a pain.

Which Model Year of the Audi A6 Is Best?

The 2015 A6 is part of the sedan’s fourth generation, which includes the 2012 through 2018 model years. The 2015 model saw several updates – mostly additional features that are only available in upper trims.

If you can do without a head-up display, LED headlights, or safety features like lane keep assist and Audi pre sense, you’ll get the best value and save the most money by purchasing a base model 2015 A6. What Does Audi's Certified Pre-Owned Warranty Cover?

Audi offers a certified pre-owned program for cars five years old or less and with fewer than 60,000 miles. Qualifying vehicles bought under the new-car warranty period have coverage until five years from the vehicle’s original in-service date, with no mileage limitation. Certified pre-owned Audis purchased after the four-year new-car warranty has ended receive an additional one-year/unlimited-mileage comprehensive warranty. This is not an extension of the new-car warranty. The two warranties differ in important ways, so read Audi’s warranty page carefully. Audi CPO models must pass a 300-plus-point inspection.

Among luxury car manufacturers, Audi’s CPO program is about average, according to our research. You’ll find better programs from Infiniti, Lexus, and Jaguar.

2015 Audi A6 Versus the Competition

Which Is Better: 2015 Audi A6 or 2015 Mercedes E-Class?

The 2015 Mercedes E-Class and the Audi A6 are neck-and-neck when it comes to interior quality and reliability ratings. Choosing between these luxury midsize cars comes down to your performance preferences. While both sedans offer several powerful engines and nimble handling overall, the A6 is the more athletic option. The E-Class is a better fit for those seeking top-notch ride comfort. The E-Class’s infotainment system also has a steep learning curve, while the A6’s infotainment system has sharp graphics and overall user-friendly menus.

Which Is Better: 2015 Audi A6 or 2015 BMW 5 Series?

Like the Audi A6, the 2015 BMW 5 Series has an array of strong engines and agile handling. However, the 5 series is more comfortable than athletic. The BMW sedan doesn’t have as much trunk space as the Audi, but the availability of other models and body styles, including a hatchback 5 Series Gran Turismo, offer more room than the A6 sedan. The 5 Series is also available in fuel-efficient diesel and hybrid models. With the 5 Series, you can choose from a number of model and powertrain options that suit your personal driving needs. However, most shoppers will be pleased with the standard A6.

2015 Audi A6 Performance

How Does the 2015 Audi A6 Drive?

The 2015 Audi A6 delivers admirable performance for a luxury midsize sedan. It comes standard with a 220-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder engine mated to a continuously variable automatic transmission. This engine delivers more power than you might except, producing rapid acceleration from a dead stop.

A brawny, 310-horsepower supercharged V6 engine and a smooth-shifting eight-speed automatic transmission are available. There’s also the Audi S6 for true performance enthusiasts. This model has a 420-horsepower twin-turbocharged V8 engine and seven-speed manual transmission.

You may also find Audi A6 models with a turbodiesel V6 engine. These were affected by Audi’s diesel emissions scandal. They require modifications to meet EPA standards. Make sure these alterations have been made before you buy one, and keep in mind that those changes could alter performance and fuel economy.

The A6 has agile handling, a comfortable ride, and strong brakes. Models with an available sport suspension or larger wheels are more athletic, but they have stiffer rides. Front-wheel drive is standard, while all V6-powered models come with all-wheel drive (AWD).

Does the 2015 Audi A6 Get Good Gas Mileage?

The base A6 with the four-cylinder engine and front-wheel-drive returns 25 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway. Those are good fuel economy estimates for the class.
