Performance: 8.0

Acceleration and Power

The 2010 Audi A6 Avant features a new 3.0 TFSI V6 engine that produces 300 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission with manual shift is standard. According to the EPA, the 2010 A6 Avant nets a city/highway fuel economy of 18/26 mpg.

Handling and Braking

Though few auto writers have driven the 2010 A6 Avant, those who have are pleased with its performance -- especially its standard Quattro all-wheel drive system.

  • "Audi has also reportedly massaged the A6's suspension in an effort to further improve both comfort and handling, with new, large-diameter shocks up front being the major change, along with improved spring response." -- Motor Trend
  • "This wagon's rough ride was smoothed out last year, and the Avant now strikes an excellent compromise between sportiness and luxury. Quiet and refined, the Avant devours highway miles." -- Car and Driver
  • "All models corner with little body lean and reassuring composure, abetted by the steering's satisfying weight and accuracy." -- Consumer Guide
  • "For negotiating curvy canyons or snowy streets, Audi's famed quattro all-wheel-drive system gives the A6 a real advantage." -- Kelley Blue Book
  • "Every A6 cruises confidently on the highway, though some tire roar finds its way into the cabin at elevated speeds. The available Quattro all-wheel-drive system gives the A6's driver some added peace of mind in foul weather." -- Edmunds
