S4 vs. S5: Which Audi Should You Buy?

The 2018 Audi S4 and S5 are essentially the same basic vehicle, aside from their body style configurations. They share similar dimensions, curb weights, engines, option packages, cabins, and infotainment systems. However, they don’t earn the same U.S. News scores, and the distinction between their configurations will likely play a significant role in your decision.

Audi debuted a redesigned S4 for the 2018 model year. It only comes as a four-door sedan. Historically, the S5 was only available in two-door, four-seat coupe and convertible (Cabriolet) variants. However, Audi completely redesigned the vehicle for the 2018 model year and introduced a new base model. It’s a four-door Sportback configuration, a hatchback sedan that is strikingly comparable to the S4 sedan.

We’ve put the S4 and S5 head to head based on the categories that luxury small car buyers care about most. It’s important to note that we update U.S. News scores regularly as new expert reviews and data become available. Therefore, the scores in this slideshow may not match the scores in our rankings.
