2018 Audi S4: What You Need to Know

2018 Audi A4
2 of 10

The S4 is powered by a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6, making 354 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. That’s up from 333 horesepower and 325 pound-feet of torque. An increase of 21 horsepower and 44 pound-feet will be instantly felt when you lay into the throttle.

This new V6 has unique “reverse flow” heads, which puts the exhaust runners in the V of the engine, rather than outboard of the cylinder banks. This allows for more compact packaging.

Power is sent through a new eight-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission. It features close ratios in the low gears for quick acceleration, and long gears on the top end so you can cruise comfortably at higher speeds. More gears means the S4 should have an easier time finding the ideal ratio for optimal performance and fuel efficiency.

Audi has long touted its Quattro all-wheel drive, and the situation is no different in the 2018 S4. The Quattro all-wheel drive system can split power between front and rear axles, as well as split torque between either side of the rear axle, increasing both performance and control in inclement driving conditions.
