Q3 vs. Q5: Which Audi Luxury Crossover Should You Buy?

Luxury automaker Audi sells a trio of crossover SUVs in the United States, ranging from the subcompact 2018 Audi Q3 to the Audi Q7, a luxury midsize SUV. Between the two is the 2018 Audi Q5, a freshly redesigned luxury compact SUV.

The 2018 Audi Q3 is a luxury subcompact SUV that seats five and is available in front- or all-wheel drive configurations. The only engine available is a 200-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder that’s linked to a six-speed automatic transmission. Q3 prices start at $32,900, which is low for the class.

In our rankings of luxury compact SUVs, the Q3 holds a spot at the bottom of the pack. It arrived in the U.S. for the 2015 model year and has not received any significant changes since its introduction.

Introduced into the North American market in 2009, the Audi Q5 is a luxury compact SUV. It received a complete redesign for the 2018 model year. The 2018 Audi Q5 comes standard with all-wheel drive, a 252-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder engine, and a seven-speed automatic transmission.

Audi also offers a high-performance model of the Q5. The SQ5 packs a 354-horsepower twin-turbo V6 under its hood.

2018 Audi Q5 prices start at $41,500. It currently holds the top spot in our rankings of luxury compact SUVs.
