The Audi Q3 Doesn’t Do Well in Our Rankings. Is There a Better Option for You?

The luxury subcompact SUV category is small but growing, and the 2018 Audi Q3 is an early entrant in the class. Its interior is worthy of the luxury designation, with an elegant design and standard heated leather seats. Its starting price of about $33,000 is typical for the class, though many of the features luxury buyers want will require spending more on packages and a higher trim level.

The Q3 falls short of its rivals in a few ways. For roughly the same price, the BMW X1 has more cargo space and more features. The Range Rover Evoque has far more off-road capabilities, and the Infiniti QX30 achieves better fuel economy. Other Audis, like the Q5 compact SUV and Allroad wagon, have more space and more standard safety technology. Top trims of non-luxury small SUVs, such as the Honda CR-V and Mazda CX-3, offer lots of features, very nice interiors, and sporty handling for a lower price.
