Sports Car Performance in a Midsize SUV

Never shy when the time comes to introduce one of its new vehicles, Fiat Chrysler exceeded expectations at the unveiling of the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk at the New York International Auto Show in April. The Trackhawk, not to be confused with any Trailhawk, which is the label Jeep applies to its most capable off-road models, is a sport utility vehicle meant for high performance, on-road travel. It is, said Michael Manley, Head of the Jeep brand, simply the fastest, most powerful SUV ever produced.

He then stepped aside and allowed a Jeep Trackhawk that was on the stage with him to show what it could do. While tethered to a dynamometer, this vehicle proceeded to knock off a zero-to-60 run in 3.5 seconds before going on to cover the quarter mile in 11.6 seconds at 116 mph. But, the driver did not stop there. With the throttle still wide open, she pushed the Jeep on to its top speed of 180 mph.
