2013 Acura TSX Review

Automotive writers praised the 2013 Acura TSX for its powerful available V6 engine, responsive handling and well-constructed interior.

Pros & Cons

  • Nimble handling
  • Powerful available V6 engine
  • Excellent sound quality with available ELS stereo
  • Noisy base engine

2013 Acura TSX Overview

The base 2013 Acura TSX is powered by a four-cylinder engine that some critics said is noisy but is adequately powerful for daily driving. A V6 engine is available and reviewers thought it has ample power. A five-speed automatic transmission is standard, and a six-speed manual is available on four-cylinder models. Reviewers said the automatic delivers smooth shifts and the manual’s light clutch and direct shifter make it enjoyable to use. The base 2013 TSX gets an EPA-estimated 22/31 mpg city/highway, which is competitive for the class. A few automotive reviewers complained that the TSX’s steering feels numb. While some noted that models with 18-inch wheels have a firm ride over road imperfections, most reviewers said the ride is comfortable. The TSX also earned praise for its nimble handling and controlled body motions through turns.

The 2013 Acura TSX’s cabin is well-constructed and features quality materials, test drivers reported. Reviewers wrote that the TSX has comfortable front seats and good outward visibility. Some automotive writers said taller passengers might need more rear-seat legroom, however. The Acura TSX comes standard with Bluetooth, a USB port, satellite radio, dual-zone automatic climate control and a power moonroof. A 10-speaker ELS surround sound audio system, a rearview camera and navigation are available. Test drivers commended the crisp, clear sound of the available ELS audio system. Some critics said that the available navigation system can complicate audio adjustments, but others thought the navigation system is easy to use. The Acura TSX sedan’s trunk has 14 cubic feet of space, which is good for the class. The TSX Sport Wagon has 66.2 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seats folded.

Other Cars to Consider

According to test drivers, the 2013 Buick Verano offers a quiet, composed ride, and unlike the TSX, it comes standard with a rearview camera. The Verano has an available turbocharged four-cylinder engine that reviewers said delivers brisk acceleration.

The 2013 Audi A3 received praise from automotive journalists for its sharp handling and strong brakes. With its available diesel engine, the A3 returns excellent fuel economy for the class.
