2014 Acura TSX Sport Wagon Overview

Is the 2014 Acura TSX Sport Wagon a Good Used Car?

The 2014 Acura TSX Sport Wagon is an excellent used car – and one of the sportier wagons for sale. Nimble handling, energetic acceleration, and a premium interior are among its standout qualities.

Powering the 2014 TSX Wagon is a 201-horsepower four-cylinder engine that is ready and willing. It provides a satisfying amount of power off-the-line and at highway speeds. Accompanying this engine is a smooth five-speed automatic transmission. The front-wheel-drive TSX Wagon has responsive steering, maintains good control through corners, and rides comfortably over uneven pavement. Its fuel economy of 22 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway is pretty typical for this class.

The 2014 TSX Sport Wagon's premium interior features sophisticated styling, impressive build quality, and first-rate materials. Travelers will fight over who sits in the front – the comfortable seats feature power adjustments and heat – but those sitting in the back will get less room to stretch out than in most 2014 used wagons. Luckily, the rear hatch isn't as restricted; you'll have more room for your stuff than with a Honda Crosstour or an Audi Allroad. For child safety seats, the Acura's rear seat has three upper tether anchors and two sets of lower anchors.

The TSX Sport Wagon has a lot of buttons and knobs on its dashboard, but the controls are straightforward once you get used to them. Its navigation system is especially easy to use. Adding to the TSX's appeal is a well-rounded list of standard features. Leather upholstery is included, as are dual-zone automatic climate control, satellite radio, Bluetooth, and a USB port. The available Technology package adds a rearview camera, an ELS surround-sound audio system, a power liftgate, and navigation.

Used 2014 Acura TSX Sport Wagon Prices

Prices for the 2014 Acura TSX Sport Wagon fall between approximately $18,800 for the base model and $21,000 for a model with the available Tech package. Actual sticker prices depend on a number of variables, such as the car's condition, mileage, and region.

How Reliable Is the 2014 Acura TSX Sport Wagon?

The 2014 Acura TSX Sport Wagon is one of the most reliable options in our ranking of used 2014 wagons. Only one other model ties its reliability rating of four out of five: the 2014 Honda Crosstour.

How Safe Is the TSX Sport Wagon?

The 2014 TSX Sport Wagon excels in almost every crash test conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) – with the exception of its third-place Moderate score in the IIHS’ small overlap front test. However, the TSX Sport Wagon comes up short on optional safety technology. Rivals like the Volvo XC70 and Subaru Outback have optional high-tech systems that watch out for pedestrians and cyclists, and the Outback can even activate the brakes if it senses a low-speed collision. The only available safety equipment for the TSX Wagon is a rearview camera.

Should I Consider Another Used TSX Sport Wagon?

Acura introduced the TSX Sport Wagon for the 2011 model year and discontinued it after 2014. Other than slight variations in amenities and reliability, there is little difference between each model year. You may be able to save some money by buying a slightly older edition.

Which Used Acura TSX Sport Wagon Is Right for Me?

When it comes to picking the right TSX Wagon trim, there is no decision; Acura offered this model in only one trim. It comes nicely equipped with luxuries like leather seats, Bluetooth, and a USB port. The only factory option for the 2014 TSX Wagon is the Technology package. Music lovers will appreciate this bundle, which includes a 10-speaker surround sound audio system, a 15-gigabyte hard drive to hold your music, and the ability to call up your favorite album using voice commands. Also included in this package are a rearview camera and an intuitive navigation system.

If you want used car pricing but a manufacturer's warranty, look for a certified pre-owned Acura TSX Wagon. With Acura's CPO program, there is a one-year/12,000-mile limited warranty, and the original new-car powertrain warranty is extended to seven years or 100,000 miles. Acura CPO models must pass a 182-point inspection. Additional benefits may be available, so read Acura’s warranty page carefully.

2014 Acura TSX Sport Wagon and Other Cars to Consider

Which Is Better: 2014 Acura TSX Sport Wagon or 2014 Subaru Outback?

The 2014 Subaru Outback is the poster child for wagons and an excellent used car. During this model’s generation (which ran from 2010 through 2014), it won our Best Wagon for the Money award twice and our Best Wagon for Families award three times. There's no clear winner between the Outback and the TSX Wagon, as both excel in different arenas. The Subaru offers standard all-wheel drive and a roomier, albeit less-fancy interior. You won't get all-wheel drive in the Acura, but you will get nimble handling and a high-class cabin.

Which Is Better: 2014 Acura TSX Sport Wagon or 2014 Volkswagen Jetta SportWagen?

You'll get almost the same level of acceleration and handling agility with the 2014 VW Jetta SportWagen as you will with the TSX Sport Wagon. Inside, the Jetta SportWagen has a roomy back seat, ample rear storage, and a straightforward layout for its buttons and controls. Where this wagon really shines is in its price, though; it undercuts the starting cost of the Acura by around $8,800. You won't get the same amount of luxuries that come in the TSX Sport Wagon, but if niceties like leather seats aren't necessary, you can save quite a bit by picking the Jetta SportWagen instead.

Which Is Better: 2014 Acura TSX Sport Wagon or 2014 Honda Crosstour?

The 2014 Honda Crosstour is a distant cousin to the 2014 Acura TSX Sport Wagon. Both are built by Honda, are the two most reliable wagons in our ranking, and are all-around excellent used cars. The TSX is more athletic, while the Crosstour is all about comfort. It delivers a smooth, quiet ride, and it has more room for everyone to stretch out. The Crosstour also has more available safety technology, including forward collision warning and a unique blind spot camera system dubbed Honda LaneWatch. Unlike the TSX Wagon, the Honda Crosstour is available with a V6 engine and all-wheel drive.
