It also provides more cargo space than many rivals. This well-rounded appeal makes the RDX a decent family vehicle. However, the same is true for this SUV’s rivals, and many of them also have more available safety features and sportier handling.

There are no new luxury compact SUVs that are priced comparably to a 2015 RDX. You would have to look at a new nonluxury vehicle to find a competitively priced or more affordable option. The Honda CR-V starts at around $24,250 and doesn’t have many standard features, but it does have more cargo space and better fuel economy estimates than the Acura. The Kia Sportage ($23,750) has a nice cabin, a comfortable ride, and agile handling.

Which Model Year of the Acura RDX Is Best?

The 2015 RDX belongs to a generation that launched for the 2013 model year. There were no major changes for the 2014 and 2015 models years. However, Acura refreshed the RDX for 2016. It gained updated exterior styling, a slight bump in horsepower, a revised touch-screen interface, and optional safety features, such as the AcuraWatch package with forward collision warning, lane departure warning, and adaptive cruise control. Both the 2017 and 2018 models were relatively unchanged. With that in mind, consider going with the 2016 RDX to save some money while getting a nearly identical vehicle as a newer model.

What Does Acura's Certified Pre-Owned Warranty Cover?

Acura offers a certified pre-owned program for cars six years old or less and with fewer than 80,000 miles. Eligibility is determined by the vehicle’s initial sale date. Qualifying vehicles get a limited warranty that is good for up to two years or 100,000 miles after the four-year/50,000-mile new-car warranty has expired. Acura covers the powertrain for seven years or 100,000 miles. These CPO models must pass a 182-point inspection. Additional benefits are available, including roadside assistance and the first scheduled maintenance, so read Acura’s warranty page carefully.

Compared to the RDX, the X3 has slightly more cargo space and a range of potent engine options, including a fuel-efficient turbodiesel and a turbocharged six-cylinder with a higher horsepower rating than the Acura’s V6. It’s also more athletic than the RDX, offering sporty handling and sharp agility. On average, the X3 costs about $4,200 more than the RDX, but if that’s in your budget, you should pick the BMW.

The 2015 Lexus RX is a luxury midsize SUV. As such, it has a lot more cargo space than the Acura RDX. The Acura, however, has more rear-seat legroom, better fuel economy estimates, and a more affordable price – you’ll save around $7,100 on average by choosing the RDX over the RX. However, if you have room in your budget, the RX is the superior SUV. It has a plush, quiet cabin, a perfect reliability score, and more standard and available safety features than the RDX.

The 2015 Acura MDX is another luxury midsize SUV. It’s capable of seating up to seven people, and it has a lot more passenger and cargo space than the smaller RDX. It also offers more safety features than the RDX, and its base V6 engine produces a little more power, which it needs to propel this larger vehicle. Keep in mind that the MDX costs around $5,100 more on average than the RDX. These are both good SUVs, so if you don’t need the MDX’s extra space, you’re better off saving a little money with the RDX.
