2015 Acura MDX Overview

Is the 2015 Acura MDX a Good Used SUV?

Yes, the MDX is a good used SUV. It has a handsome cabin with comfortable seats and great cargo space, though the infotainment system can be touchy. The MDX's performance isn't thrilling, but it's well-suited to driving the daily commute.

Used 2015 Acura MDX Performance and Interior

Luxury midsize SUVs differ greatly in performance. Some have brawny engines and spry handling, and others, like the MDX, are best suited to comfortable daily driving. The MDX's V6 engine has enough punch for suburban commutes, but it won't throw you back in your seat like the power plants in some competitors. The automatic transmission operates seamlessly and eagerly downshifts to help you get up to speed. The MDX gets great gas mileage compared to rivals: up to 20 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. The Acura isn't exactly sporty, but it does feel composed around corners. The ride is usually comfortable, though it can feel bumpy over rough roads. The brake pedal has a spongy feel when pressed, and there's not as much stopping power as you may like.

The MDX has handsome interior styling with a clean, uncluttered dashboard. The front seats are comfortable and the second-row seats have ample legroom, especially with the seats slid all the way back. The third-row seats are fairly cramped and best left to children. All second-row seats have a full set of LATCH child-seat connectors, and the third-row seats each have an upper tether.

Like most luxury vehicles, the MDX has a long list of standard features. It includes an infotainment system with an 8-inch touch screen, satellite radio, Bluetooth, and Pandora internet radio compatibility. The infotainment system is a bit cumbersome, as accessing some features requires multiple steps. There are straightforward physical controls for other features, however. The MDX has the largest cargo capacity of any luxury midsize SUV, with more than 90 cubic feet of cargo room with both rear rows folded.

Which Used Acura MDX Is Right for Me?

The standard features in the base model should be enough to satisfy most drivers. The Advanced package has an appealing array of extras, including leather upholstery, heated front seats, a rear-seat entertainment system, and a wide array of safety features.

Some MDX models available at Acura dealerships may be covered by a certified pre-owned program. With Acura's CPO program, there is a one-year/12,000-mile limited warranty, and the original new-car powertrain warranty is extended to seven years or 100,000 miles. Acura CPO models must pass a 182-point inspection. Additional benefits may be available, so read Acura’s warranty page carefully.

2015 Acura MDX and Other SUVs to Consider

Which Is Better: 2015 Acura MDX or 2015 Audi Q7?

Paying more for the badge on the hood of the Audi Q7 won't really get you much more than the MDX. The Q7's cabin feels dated and has few standard features. While its base engine is potent, it gets very poor fuel economy. The Q7 may have a comfortable ride, but it leans noticeably around turns. The Audi also has an even lower reliability score than the MDX.

Which Is Better: 2015 Acura MDX or 2015 Infiniti QX60?

The Infiniti QX60 is marginally better for daily driving, as it has a supple ride and adult-friendly third-row seats. The QX60's infotainment system is more intuitive than the MDX's, and there are buttons and knobs for climate and audio that make it easy to adjust these settings while driving.

Which Is Better: 2015 Acura MDX or 2015 Lexus RX 350?

The Lexus RX is a great luxury midsize SUV for commuting or driving the kids to school – as long as you don't need three rows of seats. The RX has a cloudlike ride that absorbs rough patches of pavement. It has one of the highest reliability scores in the class, too. However, if you need some driving engagement, stick with the MDX. The RX is not as exciting to drive.
