2011 Acura MDX Overview

The 2011 Acura MDX should appeal to a wide range of people. It has a powerful engine and nimble performance, making it a good SUV for driving enthusiasts who need extra room for passengers and cargo. It's a luxury SUV with an interior stuffed with cutting-edge features that will have no problem keeping technophiles happy. Standard features include leather upholstery, eight-way power-adjustable heated front seats, an eight-speaker stereo system and tri-zone automatic climate control with humidity control. Optional equipment when it was new includes family-friendly features like a rear-seat entertainment system, heated second-row seats, a rearview camera and a collision mitigation braking system. And, with seating for seven and space for three car seats in the second row, the MDX makes a strong case for itself as a family vehicle.

However, the MDX isn’t for everyone. Some test drivers said that they didn’t like the MDX’s edgy exterior styling, and many noted that its third row is cramped. Still, there’s not much to complain about with the MDX. Reviewers said that anyone in the market for a three-row luxury crossover would do well to put the 2011 Acura MDX on their shopping list.

Other Cars to Consider

The 2011 Lincoln MKT offers even more family-friendly tech features than the MDX, along with a larger third row. That means that if you have teens or regularly transport adults in the back row of seats, the MKT is worth a look. This crossover offers features like a refrigerated center console and automatic parallel parking. Its handling isn’t quite as agile as the MDX’s, but the MKT is a strong entry in its class.

Anyone who doesn’t need three rows of seats should be sure to consider the 2011 Lexus RX. With either the hybrid or gas-only model, the highly-ranked Lexus RX is one of the most fuel-efficient luxury SUVs on the market, and reviewers raved about its beautifully-made interior and comfortable ride. The RX is nowhere near as sporty as the Acura MDX, but if you’re looking for a smooth-riding luxury SUV, take the Lexus RX for a test drive.
