Which SUVs Are Worth It and Which SUVs to Avoid

Car enthusiasts will debate opinions on the best cars, trucks, and SUVs until the sun goes down, but what everyone can agree on is how important your vehicle’s reliability is. To help identify the most reliable vehicles, U.S. News & World Report provides a predicted reliability score based on information from J.D. Power and Associates. The reliability score includes analysis of three years of historical initial quality and reliability data from automotive studies. Of 11 SUVs, including luxury vehicles, seven earn above-average scores from J.D. Power and Associates, while four scored below average. Lexus scores big with three of the most reliable SUVs, and Porsche has two on the list. Some budget-friendly finds also make the list for most reliable, while others show that low price doesn’t necessarily mean best buy.

When researching for a reliable vehicle, also consider the warranty, and whether it has any safety recalls. If it has recalls attached to it, is that something that would cause you not to purchase the vehicle? Or is it a matter of small maintenance? More than half of the SUVs listed are the most reliable in class, while a handful need some improvement.
