Refreshed 2018 Ford F-150: What You Need to Know

2018 Ford F-150
2 of 12

The diesel engine being offered in the 2018 F-150 is a 3.0-liter Power Stroke V6 turbo which is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. Ford hasn’t yet released official power numbers out for this setup, but, since the Ram 1500’s 240-horsepower 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel is the only other diesel engine in the full size pickup lineup, it’s safe to assume Ford’s numbers will be similar. The other engine of intrigue is the legendary 5.0-liter V8, which makes its return in the 2018 F-150, and promises to do so with increased torque and horsepower.

If recent years are any indication, the big sellers will be Ford’s EcoBoost (that’s Ford for “turbo”) V6 engines. Ford offers two on the F-150, a 2.7-liter and a 3.5-liter, along with a naturally aspirated 3.3-liter V6 for a wide range of fuel economy and power options.
