2017 Toyota RAV4 vs. 2017 Subaru Forester

The 2017 Toyota RAV4 and Subaru Forester are two of the most popular compact SUVs on the market. Though they face stiff competition from the Honda CR-V, Hyundai Tucson, Mazda CX-5, and Nissan Rogue.

The overall scores of the two are close, though the field is so full that they place far apart. The Subaru Forester comes in at No. 6, earning a score of 8.1 out of 10. Toyota’s RAV4 has a score of 7.9 out of 10, placing it at No. 11 on the same list.

For 2017, the Forester has received minor upgrades. Its EyeSight safety technology now includes lane departure warning and blind spot monitoring. Additionally, adaptive headlights and reverse automatic braking are available.

Toyota last updated the RAV4 in 2013. New for 2017, the Toyota Safety Sense is now available in all trims. The automaker generally keeps generations of the RAV4 around for six or seven years, so buyers shouldn’t expect a new generation of the SUV to debut for a few more years.

In this slideshow, you’ll see these two SUVs rated against each other in key categories that will help buyers make their vehicle buying decision.
