Spyker C8 Preliator
Price: $354,990
The $354,990 Spyker C8 Preliator was introduced earlier this year at the New York Auto Show, but it’s making its Los Angeles Auto Show debut this week. It is a wildly designed super sports car influenced by the company’s aviation heritage. Only 50 copies of the car will be produced.
It’s powered by a supercharged Audi V8 and its suspension comes from Lotus. The two-seat supercar’s body is made from carbon fiber with a plethora of stainless steel accents, including tail light surrounds that are designed to look like jet fighter exhausts. The interior, including the headliner, is lined with leather, and you can specify any color you want for an extra fee.
Mercedes-Maybach S650 Cabriolet
Price: $319,000 (Estimated Based on European Price)
You’ll have to move fast to get your hands on a new Mercedes-Maybach S650 Cabriolet. The company is only producing 300, and a mere 75 are coming to America. The ultra-luxury four-seater is powered by a 621-horsepower 6.0-liter V12. The Maybach’s silky smooth ride comes courtesy of standard air suspension.
The Maybach is based on the Mercedes S-Class Cabriolet.
Only three colors will be available in America, including Zircon Red, Cote d'Azur Blue, and Designo White. A set of luggage that’s made of the same leather as the Maybach Cabriolet’s handcrafted interior is included, as is a car cover that’s color-coordinated with the convertible’s soft top.
Aston Martin DB11
Price: $211,995
The Aston Martin DB11 previews a new design language for the company with an aluminum structure that’s a bit curvier than recent models. Dynamic satin metal accents form the arch of the cockpit roof, though the massive front grille will leave no doubt that it’s an Aston.
The DB11’s heart is a monster twin-turbocharged 5.2-liter V12 that produces 600 horsepower. It’s time from zero to 62 miles per hour is 3.9 seconds, and its top speed is 200 mph. It features an eight-speed automatic transmission and torque vectoring via braking to produce world-class sports car handling.
BMW Alpina B7
Price: $160,000+ (With Options)
If the BMW 7 Series isn’t quite fast, luxurious, or exclusive enough for you, BMW has another option for you to consider. The Alpina B7 looks similar to a 7 Series, but its twin-turbo V8 is good for 600 horsepower.
That’s enough to send the large ultra-luxury sedan from zero to 60 in just 3.6 seconds and achieve a top speed of 193 mph.
The Alpina B7’s interior is hand-crafted of top notch leathers. Accenting the leather are real wood accents and controls with ceramic inlays.
Pricing for the car has not been released, but it’s a safe bet that it will be well above the top end of the 7 Series range.
Tesla Model X P100D
Price: $160,000+ (With Options)
An electric car that can tow an Airstream trailer? That’s just one of the things that the Tesla Model X excels at. When it’s not showing off its 5,000-pound towing capacity, the Model X can launch from zero to 60 mph in just 2.9 seconds when equipped with Ludicrous mode.
Pricing for the five- to seven-passenger all-wheel drive Model X starts at $88,800 but can exceed $160,000 with all of the option boxes checked. The 2016 Tesla Model X is currently our No. 1-ranked luxury midsize SUV. The SUV’s distinctive falcon doors take less lateral room to open than even the sliding doors of a minivan.
Mercedes-AMG GTC
Price: $150,000-$160,000 (According to Various Estimates)
The Los Angeles International Auto Show was the place for the North American debut of Mercedes GT convertible. The GTC sports car features a 550-horsepower twin-turbocharged V8 and active rear-wheel steering. An electronically managed active suspension keeps the car firmly planted when pushed to the limit.
The Mercedes GT family is growing. It already includes the base GT, the more powerful GT S, and a GT R racecar that produces 577-horsepower. Mercedes-AMG engines produced for GTs are hand-built by one technician.
Maserati Levante S
Price: $100,000+ (With Options)
The first SUV from Italian supercar manufacturer Maserati is on display at the Los Angeles Auto Show. Debuting in Geneva earlier this year, the Levante carries a twin-turbo V6 that’s good for 350 or 430 horsepower depending on model’s tuning. All Levantes are all-wheel drive and ride on an air suspension.
You won’t mistake the Levante for anything other than a Maserati. It features the brand’s signature grille, marked with a trident. An opulent leather interior is, of course, standard, and a suite of high-tech safety and driver assistance features are included.
The Levante shares its platform with the Maserati Ghibli and Quattroporte.
Lexus LC 500
Price: $100,000
Lexus first showed its flagship LC coupe earlier this year, and it continues to create excitement as it gets closer to its on-sale date. Led by a bold interpretation of the Lexus signature spindle grille, the LC 500 and LC 500h feature a sharply creased body with a low-slung cockpit.
The design descended from the LF-LC concept that debuted in 2012.
Power in the rear-wheel drive LC 500 will come from the same high-revving V8 that propels the Lexus RC-F and GS-F. Though final numbers have not been released, Lexus has predicts power output will be about 467 horsepower. It will feature a 10-speed automatic transmission. An active exhaust system will enable the LC to have a variable exhaust note.

One Percenter, Your Car Has Arrived
Hollywood is well-represented at this year’s Los Angeles International Auto Show, with plenty of cars for the stars making splashy debuts. Some of the most expensive cars at the show aren’t even sports cars or luxury sedans.
Mercedes-Benz presented several new models, including the Maybach S 650 Cabriolet and the AMG GTC Roadster. From Porsche comes Executive versions of the redesigned Porsche Panamera, including a plug-in hybrid model. Alfa Romeo presented a vehicle that can launch from zero to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds – and it's an SUV. Previewing their first all-electric model, Jaguar presented the I-Pace, an SUV that will be shown in production trim early in 2017 and arrive at dealers in 2018.
